Review of 2007

Our year began in earnest with the Fred Hughes 10 Mile Run on 21 January, and a Members' Night at a local hostelry at the end of the month. As in previous years, a number of members of our group assisted South-West Herts group in February at the Watford Half Marathon, a quiet event held in good running conditions that saw event records broken. We also held our AGM.

In March, a number of Hertfordshire RAYNET delegates were privileged to attend the Hertfordshire Resilience Conference 2007, with excellent presentations from direct responders to various recent emergencies. We also provided a display stand for the exhibitors' area of the conference. A few days later, we provided safety communications for the Walk for Life, a sponsored walk run by Kidney Research UK in the grounds of Hatfield House. Weather conditions were ideal for the walkers, and much-needed funds were raised.

On the 1st April, we assisted Ware Rotary for the Hooks' Cross Charity Horse Ride - another event blessed with good weather - see the pictures in our gallery.

The summmer months are always busy for the group. In May we provided safety and welfare communications for the Christian Aid Walk and the St Albans Charity Cycle Ride. We were again busy in July supporting the Ware Carnival, the London to Cambridge Bike Ride, and the Grove House Hospice Midnight Walk.
