The year so far ..
As usual, our year began uneventfully with provision of safety communications for the Fred Hughes 10 Mile Run on 20 January, followed by a very pleasant Members' Night at a local hostelry. We held our AGM in February, at which the existing committee proved unable to escape re-election.
In March, as in previous years, members of Hertfordshire RAYNET were privileged to be delegates at the Hertfordshire Resilience Conference, together with colleagues from other voluntary organisations and representatives from the statutory emergency services.
We assisted for the first time at the Mayor of Hertford's Charity Run, held at the start of April
in unseasonably snowy conditions. Despite this, the participants set about their task of running
to raise money for the Mayor of Hertford's nominated charities (the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund
and the Royal British Legion) with enthusiasm. The run took place partly on the Chain Walk between Hertford and Letty Green and partly on rural lanes, and was without incident, despite the
cold and wet conditions faced by the runners.
