Welcome to our training page

The group has a program of events throughout the year during which we provide voluntary communications for the user services. Under the terms of our amateur radio licence these are designated as "exercises" and provide an opportunity for members to practice their skills in real world conditions.

However, in order to ensure that members acquire the skills and knowledge they need, we also run a training session every month. The most recent training session (on the 19th April 2007) was run by Phil, G8KLC and covered the subject of effective operations from the group's Mobile Communications Unit (MCU) - just in time for our summer season of events! Each member of the group takes it in turn to run our weekly radio net, giving everyone the chance to practice running a controlled net in a safe environment.
